How are work and responsibilities split between members of functional and industry competence centers on projects?

Assuming there is a restructuring case in the automotive sector, who will take the lead? Will members of RPT do financial analysis and members of the automotive CC work on impacts of industry-wide topics or is there no clear differentiation?

Hi Christian, thank you for your question and pretty good guess. In case of a restructuring project, the restructuring consultants work on the overall company analysis and yes especially on the financial analysis although it is equally important to of course understand the business. A restructuring concept also requires a competitive analysis and an analysis of the positioning of the firm and of course a long-term strategy. This part is mainly the focus of the industry colleagues. I hope that answers your question.

Hi Michaela, in the described case: If the restructuring expert among the team wants to discuss his/her results of an analysis or simply doesn't know how to go on who is there to assist? Thanks.

Hi Frank, thanks for that question. There is always someone for sparring. If you are a consultant, the first person would be the project manager. If you are a project manager it is rather the partner. Or you reach out to colleagues that have worked on similar topics. But sparring is super important. If you do not know how to proceed it should be one of the first things to do. And you will always have someone or find someone.

Sounds great and nobody has to "reinvent the wheel"! So there would be sth like a database where one can look up: "automotive & restructuring" and one can see who was working on similar projects in the past and just call the guys?

Hi Frank it is rather just calling up people. Either someone in your project team recommends someone or for instance you know someone in the automotive cc and ask that person if she/he knows someone that could help. So much about networking :)
