What kind of work does RB do for the public sector with regard to climate action & sustianability?

Hi Vincent, thank you for your question :) The public sector is one of our main clients, also regarding climate action & sustainability. We consultant governments around the world in their decarbonization strategies and help them to set the right path for a carbon-free world. We for example have some huge projects in the Middle East, Asia and also Europe ongoing.

Hey Julia, thanks for checking in! That is great to hear. I am really passionate about making governments able to decarbonise their footprint and that of their economies. Are these projects at RB more focussed on the emission output of the government is self or also policy recommendations? If I may add a question: Do you also work with international organisations (e.g., the United Nations (FCC) or others?

Sure! :) Actually, it is both and really depends on the projects. We have done projects where we focused on the emission output and calculated pathways how to get to net-zero on a country level. But this is of course closely linked to policy recommendations! We definitely need them to tackle this huge challenge. We have close collaborations with international organisations like the UNFCC. We indeed had a super interesting chat with one of the modellers for the Paris agreement a couple of weeks ago. We also include their expertise in our projects.

Great, that sounds really like a fascinating task! Would be great to work in the front row with these organisations and governments :) Would you say that one needs a certain academic (and or work) background for the consulting work with the public sector? (Mine is in Political Science and International Economic Relations)

Your academic background is very interesting, especially for our public practice group. It is always good to have expertise in a certain area, but in general, we are open to all academic and practical backgrounds. For the public sector, it is good to have already done internships in this field, to be socially engaged, etc.

Hey Katharina, thank you for your information! I have worked at a council for the German Government on Sustainability and Technology Policy previously. I would very much like to apply for an internship at RB, would you suggest to directly apply at the "Sustainability/ Climate Action Center" or rather for a general internship?

If you're interested in an internship, you always have to apply for a general internship as we talk about your focus area only after the successful recruiting. But let us know your interest in sustainability and climate action via the cover letter.
