Hi Christian! Autonomous driving of cause can have a massive impact on these industries. E.g. when a car can drive autonomously, taxi drivers are replaced by computers. All kind of transport will become more flexible as it no longer depends on a driver. Especially trucks transporting goods can almost drive 24/7.

Thanks for the answer. When do you expect these changes?

Some years ago this was expected for the 2030s. By now, experts guess that the real shift to autonomous drive will be much more complex to realize due to open questions in responsibility and also technical challanges to avoid all kind of obstacles on the ground.

What are the major technical challenges? Do they mostly depend on Machine Learnig aspects such as scene recognition/classification or also on the harware such as sensors?

In the end itis a mix of both. But sensors are already very advanced today in what they can process. The problem lies more with the interpretation of data
