Many thanks for your question.
Indeed, at Roland Berger you are associated to a plattform (e.g. Consumer & Health or Automotive) already at the beginning of your career. The idea behind this is to allow new hires choosing based on their preferences and building up expertise relatively quickly.
However, and this is a very important point, being associated with a plattform does NOT mean that you are ONLY doing projects in this particular area. Very often our projects staffed with people from different plattforms to allow developing the best solution for the client. In Addition, you have the ability to voice actively your interest in pursuing projects outside your plattform (e.g. via rotation programs).
So here is how I think About it: It gives you a good starting ground ("you have your home base") but it does not constrain you in a restrictive way
